Raked out using 6.4mm medium-bore diamond raking discs to a depth of around 12mm+. Straight forward job for an older gent who was keen to avoid scaffolding on his new tarmac. Was able to safely undertake the works using ladder stabilisers to enable plumb vertical rise and evenly spread weight. Decided not to use the tower scaffold as the client was very particular about avoiding scaffold although the weight of an aluminium tower is many folds less than a standard steel and wooden plank scaffold I couldnt be doing with the meither
Sometimes the job isn't so straight forward.
Our initial run consisted of repointing in a hybrid lime mortar. Unfortunately, weather conditions were particularly harsh on the work owing to a late summer heatwave we were experiencing at the time. This impacted the curing strength of the cement within the mix. We received a callback from the customer a few weeks later complaining about the strength of the mix in the wall. We returned and inspected the work. It was clear the strength had been impacted by the heat from the sun which had dried it out too quickly. We confirmed a repoint was needed. The gent then asked us about a black mortar which we agreed to add to the mixture on the second run as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience.

Once we completed the black dyed hybrid lime repointing, the customer asked us about our brick watersealing service. This was later applied and a wisely chosen additional option of protection since the property sits at high altitude and is often exposed to extreme weather conditions where things can turn from wet and harsh to humid through to hot and arrid in a short amount of time.
