Joint Profiles

Buckethandle: (defacto)

Modern parabolic-invert finish. Our default joint finish. High performance across the board in all manners of critical analysis from aesthetic appeal and longevity through to joint crafting overhead. Curved structure enables a latent sealed finish with minimal risk of expansion/contraction fracturing, proven highest performing in long-term observational studies.

Tuck:

Regal straight-cut lime-ribbon finish. High specification option that gives an engineered-brick aesthetic with ruler straight lime-ribbon pointed joints on walls constructed from hand-made and irregular shaped (rough) brick-commons. Special joint crafting and tooling techniques enable perfectly straight and consistent high contrast pointed joints.

Weatherstruck:

Sloped gradient lipped overhang finish. Suitable for Accrington / London (engineering stock) brick and for those who are drawn to its appealing aesthetic. Widely employed pointing style from the early 1920's to around the late 1960's up until the advent of the American favoured and superior performing buckethandle jointing technique.

Strap:

Uniform proud / flat-faced finish. Historically, this type of joint finish is the most commonly chosen type of pointing style applied to properties constructed from stone and situated at higher altitudes. Extra care must be taken when pointing in a Strap finish to mitigate potential failure from water-ingress if the joint is not crafted correctly.

Flush:

Flush / edge to edge flat finish. Typically used with cement based pointing mortar and a favoured choice of pointing finish opted for by associations with considerable volume of housing stock. Second in longevity compared to buckethandle in observational tests. A universally appealing aesthetic ideal for multi-tenanted properties.

Ribbon Cut:

Uniform overhang / semi-proud finish. This type of finish is much like a strap pointing finish. The birth of thickness is marginally less than Strap which is much thicker set-out / proud. Suitable for those looking for a strap pointed aesthetic, crafted for brickwork masonry. Ideal for an engineered finish on hand-made and irregular shaped brick.

Stippled Flush:

Flush / edge to edge flat finish typically employing a yellow sand aggregate. Once semi cure, the mortar is worked to remove the latent top coating and reveal a rough surface that hs improved breathabillity and properties. A unique and highyl appealing aesthetic with a rustic appearance.

Black Flush:

Much like other flush finishes except the use of a sharp sand with extra binding constituents due to earth born black pigments and their weaking effect on mortar. Generally, the latent finish is kept in place althoug can be stipple brushed to reveal a matt black effect.

Curved Strap:

Uniform proud / parabolic finish. This type of joint finish is quite rare and is a variant of the origina lstrap point finish. This can be seen in use in some ares around the peak district and is generally chosen for is alternative aesthetic appeal in comparison to the original flat strap pointed joint profile.

Penny Roll Stone Pointing:

Semi-flush / centre-pitted finish. Designed to enable expansion and contraction in masonry units whilst historically, was also to create an ideal setting for a lime-ribbon engineered joint finishing aesthetic.

Often used on stone and common-brick walls.

Chariot Recessed:

Recessed Chariot Pointed Finish. Produced a uniform appearance that was very popular on commercial structures in the 80's and 90's and especially so on government structures where foresight to minimal aesthetic upkeep was sought. Generally undertaken with use of a sharp sand aggregate base and often containing a black pigment.
